Red Bull Racing Party 2009 at Wave House Sentosa

09/23/2009 - 10:00

For the first ever FORMULA 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix held a year ago, Red Bull hosted a glitzy outdoor FORMULA ONE Race Party for the Red Bull team drivers and guests. This year, Red Bull revved up the party quotient by throwing an exclusive Opening Party to the F1 Weekend at soon-to-be-opened Wave House Sentosa on Wednesday, 23 September. For the 1,900 guests who turned up, it was a much-anticipated preview of Wave House Sentosa, as well as to be at THE pre-race party of the 2009 FORMULA 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix night race.

Organized by Red Bull Singapore, this grand opening party to the F1 weekend welcomed its drivers of its two Red Bull teams – Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing, as well as Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastian Buemi of Scuderia Toro Rosso who arrived in Singapore earlier in the day.

Wave House Sentosa was fitted-out for the night with choreographed stage and ambient lighting, digital billboards, and bars, transforming half of the outdoor area – the FlowBarrel™, the beach front, the splash pool areas (the second level Terrace was used as the VIP lounge) – into a über stylish outdoor venue for the Red Bull Racing Party. Queues formed as early as 8pm, and by 10pm, a large crowd was gathered at the entrance. Spotted in the crowd were models and TV personalities, such as MTV VJs Utt and Sonja, Sports @ SG presenters, Kui Jien and Jade Seah, Mediacorp artistes Adam Chen, Terence Chow and Melody Chen, as well as personalities in the music and entertainment industry.

As the cool sounds of DJ and saxophonist duo Cosa Nostra, and jazz singer Michaela filled guests’ ears, all eyes were on the FlowBarrel, where the local instructors put up a wave show with big carves, spins and kick flips amidst the mesmerizing light display and visuals on the digital billboards. Three Red Bull bars served Red Bull special concoctions, such as Perfect Serve (1 shot of 42 Below Vodka with Red Bull) as the welcome drink, Red Bull Sugar Free and Singha Beer, with an array of butler-served canapés all night long.

At a magic moment close to midnight, the drivers made their way quietly from the entrance to the bridge linking the main building and the Lalang Lounge by the FlowBarrel on the second level – the epicenter of the party. The spot lights came on, followed by thunderous cheers and clapping that went on for five minutes. Past midnight, the tempo built up and the drivers mingled with the guests at the lounge. DJ Aldrin took over the decks and kept the adrenaline-high crowd grooving till the wee hours.
